Bisate Lodge offers a luxurious and eco-friendly retreat, nestled amidst the rainforest with six Forest Villas. These villas, shaped like cones and topped with thatched roofs, provide an ideal setting for admiring the famous mountain gorillas of the Virungas. Each villa features lavish interiors designed to showcase the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. With a bedroom, lounging area centered around a fireplace, and a private deck overlooking Mount Bisoke, guests can immerse themselves in nature's beauty. Enjoy close encounters with gorillas and other wildlife, as well as cultural visits to local villages and landmarks like Dian Fossey's grave. On-site facilities include a spa for relaxation, a library, wine cellar, and restaurant. Dining experiences offer a fusion of local Rwandan flavors with contemporary international cuisine, using fresh farm-to-table ingredients like mangoes, avocados, and climbing beans.
After breakfast in the morning, you will be taken to the Bwindi Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You will then be divided into groups and assigned a gorilla family to visit. Accompanied by armed rangers, porters, and experienced guides, you will embark on a trek through the forest to find the gorilla group. This may take between 2 to 6 hours. Once you find them, you will have an hour to observe and enjoy their presence and receive a gorilla trekking certificate that shows you did gorilla trekking in Uganda before returning to the lodge.
