The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” or “tourist” route, is the easiest and shortest path to Kilimanjaro’s summit. It’s the only route with sleeping huts at each campsite, offering solar lighting and comfortable beds with mattresses and pillows. These huts have communal sleeping areas, with around 60 beds at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms with running water are available at the lower huts, while basic latrines serve the final camp. Marangu is usually completed in 5 days, but a 6-day option allows for better acclimatization, with an extra day to explore Horombo Hut or climb the small peak of Mawenzi.
