National Park Rules

National Park Rules and Regulations- Uganda.

National Park Rules- All national parks in Uganda have rules and regulations governing them. All travelers are advised to read, understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of respective parks if they are o have a memorable and enjoyable stay in the Pearl of Africa. These rules are put to promote wildlife conservation and ensure the safety of both travelers and wild animals in their natural habitats promoting sustainable tourism in the Pearl of Africa. National parks in Uganda include: Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo Valley National park, Queen Elizabeth National park, Mount Elgon National park, kibale National park, Mount Rwenzori National park, Semuliki National park, Bwindi Impenetrable National park, Lake Mburo National park and Mgahinga National park. Uganda Tourism Board together with Uganda Wildlife Authority set rules and regulation governing all the national parks.

1. Do not camp or make fire camps except at official sites. Avoid making fires except under the guidance of rangers, camp fires are only allowed in designed camp site areas, unauthorized camp fire setting scare away animals.

2. Do not drive off the tracks. Off track driving should be done under the guidance of rangers, safari guides are only allowed to drive through the legalized routes to protect the bushes, forests, animals and birds.

3. Do not drop litter, especially cigarette ends or matches. Litter transfers disease to the wild animals when they are eaten which may lead to their death and also the cigarette ends and matches may lead to fire break out in the park.

4. Do not disturb the wildlife by sounding motor horns. Motor horns scare away the animals from their habitats and also disturb the peace of the wild game.

5. Do not drive in the park between 7:30pm and 6:30am. Driving through the park at night is not allowed unless guided by the rangers and it is paid for to avoid knocking the nocturnal which move at night and the vehicles doing night game drives should be able to give maximum light

6. Do not bring dogs or other pets to the park. The dogs and other pets may bring diseases to the animals in the park and also may attack the animals.

7. Do not pick flowers or destroy any vegetation. Learn that the parks are natural habitats for wild life so they need to be conserved for future generations.

8. Do not bring fire arms or ammunitions into the park. Fire arms like guns and other ammunitions destruct the security scare away the wild animals and other people in the park as they look at you as a security threat.

9. Do not exceed the speed limit of 40km per hour. Speeding in the park is above 40km per hour is prohibited because may cause accidents in the park and leading to death of wildlife.

Retain all official receipts for entrance, boat trips, fishing among others as you may be requested to show them during your time of stay
