Day 1: Arrival at the Entebbe Airport & transfer to hotel

A pick up from the Entebbe Airport and transfer to hotel, If there is a enough time, You will have a chance to go for birding in the Entebbe birding hot spots like Entebbe botanical Gardens yielding numerous bird species like Red Chested, Diederick Cuckoo, Grey Capped, Blue and Ross’s Turacos, Eurosuian Reed Warblesr, Fain Tailed Widow bird, Woodland Kingfisher and so many more.

Day 2: Take a boat to Mabamba Swamp –A home to Shoebill Stork and later transfer to lake Mburo national park

As we make our way through the scrub-land, with deep washes in the swamps, have great views on your over the common bird species. Day 3: Full-day Birding Excursion in Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast , take a bird-watching adventure in the Park on foot. Lake Mburo National Park boosts over 350 recorded bird species. These are spread across the Park’s various swamps, forests, and savannah grassland, among other habitats. You will explore the major birding spots that include the Miriti, Watukiri swamps and others. Catch views of the migratory Brown-chested Plover and Red-faced Barbet. More species to expect include White-headed Barbet, ross-s Turaco, Grey-crowned Crane, Emerald-spotted Dove, Black-bellied Bustard, town Parrot, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, etc

Day 4 of the 10 Day Birding Tour in Uganda: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After your breakfast, proceed with your birding safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park is the second largest National Park in Uganda located in western Uganda in the Kasese district. This park is home to over 95 mammal species and more than 610 recorded bird species. You will arrive in the Park in time for lunch at your lodge.

Have lunch and then proceed for bird watching at the Kazinga channel which joins Lake Edward and Lake George. Kazinga channel is a major birding spot with a multitude of water birds. The Great White Pelican, Temmick’s Courser, African Spoonbill, Saddle-soiled Stork, African Fish Eagle, African Shoebill, Common Godwit, and Water Thick-knee are some of the bird species you might expect to encounter.

Day 5: Bird watching in Maramagambo Forest

After morning breakfast, Go for birding safari in Maramagambo Forest Queen Elizabeth . The forest is located in the southern part of the Park and thrives with an array of forest birds. You will have also a chance to encounter bird species such as; Marsha Tchagra, Brown Illadopsis, Black-headed Batis, Honeyguide Greenbul, Green Brombec, BIack Cuckoo, African Broadbill, White-tailed Lark, Papyrus Canary and Black Bee-eater, etc. While birding in Maramagambo, you will also encounter a range of primates including chimpanzees, monkeys, and olive baboons.

Later on, take a 4-hour drive to Kibale National Park for another birding excursion. Take in the views of the crater lakes region as you go along, with the Rwenzori Mountain ranges serving as your backdrop. Once you arrive, transfer to your lodge.

Day 6: Birding in Kibale Forest National Park– Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

After morning breakfast, visit Kibale Forest to observe birds. Kibale national park is one of the most popular national parks in Uganda is where one can go for birding,  This park is home to 13 different primate species, including the largest chimpanzee population in East Africa. The Park is home to more than 375 different bird species. It is therefore a well-known location for bird observation and chimpanzee trekking. The Bigodi wetland, home to more than 170 bird species, is connected to the park.

Aside from other birds like the White-napped Pigeon, Masked Apalis, Cabanis Greenbul, Blue-headed Bee-eater, Black-eared Ground Thrush, Chubb’s Cisticola, African Dusky Flycatcher, Black-billed Turaco, and Barn Swallow, keep an eye out for the endangered Green Breasted Pitta during the excursion. Later get back to the lodge for lunch.

Later, You will go for Bigodi Wetland for additional exhilarating bird sightings. Spend some time admiring the wetland’s plant species and return to the lodge for an overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After an early breakfast , You will transfer to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through the exciting views of the Albertine Rift Valley. It will take you approximately 6 hours to reach to Murchison and on arrival, have lunch and relax at your lodge. Later in the afternoon, drive to visit the top of Murchison Falls. The falls are located on the Victoria arm of the River Nile at the point where the Nile gushes through a narrow gorge and falls 45 meters deep.  Enjoy the experience at the falls with photography and then return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Early Morning Game drive & Afternoon Birding along the Nile birding safari uganda

After breakfast, You will head to Northern savannah of the Park in search of wildlife. Murchison Falls National Park is the largest National Park in Uganda. The Park boasts the highest concentration of wildlife with over 76 mammal species and 450 bird species. This makes it a top destination for birders in uganda. The game will treat you to encounter with Lions, Hyenas, Leopards, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, Elephants, Buffaloes, Jackson’s Hartebeests and many more. You will spend 3 to 4 hours on the game drive, then return to your lodge and relax.

Later in the afternoon, venture on a birding boat cruise on the Nile. The Nile thrives with a variety of bird species which include; Giant heron, Giant Kingfisher, Grey-crowned Crane, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Pied Kingfisher, shoebill stork, Marabou Stork, and Nightjars, among others. You will also get to see a range of Nile crocodiles, Hippos, and Monitor lizards.

Day 9: Go for Birding in Budongo Forest

After breakfast, Drive to the Budongo Forest, which is the most ecologically diverse forest throughout East Africa. It has over 466 plant species, including a significant number of giant mahoganies that can reach 60 meters in height. This forest is also a home to chimpanzees. And is a haven for birdwatchers with over 366 different bird species.

Expect to see several different bird species, including the Scaly-breasted IIIadopsis, Cameroon Sombre, Red-tailed Bristle Bill, Slender-billed Honey Guide, Yellow-crested Woodpecker, Speckled Tinkerbird, Yellow-browed Camaroptera and others. later return to your lodge for an overnight

Day 10 of 10 Day Birding Tour in Uganda: Return to Kampala

After breakfast, embark on your return journey to Kampala with en-route lunch and this marks the end of our 10 days Uganda birding tour.
